One of my favorite traditions each year is choosing toys to donate to the Jersey Battered Women’s Shelter, selecting gifts for every age group, girls and boys.
I always include at least one bike and helmet, because I remember being so excited when I received a bike as a gift when I was growing up.
This year was extra special because my family joined me in shopping. Doug Kopp, Jamie Kopp & Jack Chavis and Jason Kopp & Marin Warner each took a share of the donation budget, and we shopped till we dropped at Walmart, hand-picking toys that would bring joy to children during the holidays.
Jamie & Jake were so inspired that they added an extra bike! Jason & Marin were so inspired that they added a Little Tikes basketball set!
Once everything was collected, I brought the toys to Team Par where Karen Kiefer and her team consolidate donations from so many generous individuals and businesses.
They deliver everything to the shelter so the women can “shop” for their children at no cost, ensuring kids have gifts for whichever holidays they celebrate.
I’m grateful to my family for jumping in with such enthusiasm and to Team Par for the meaningful work they do year after year.
Sharing these moments reminds me how powerful community generosity can be.
